Florida finished another USGA Men's State Team Championship with another top ten. A final round 147 left team Florida alone in seventh place after shooting a tournament total 14-over par 440. New York was the runaway champion finishing at 2-over par and winning by six strokes.
Jon Veneziano lead the way for Florida shooting rounds of 74, 73, and 70 finishing the Championship at 4-over par. Veneziano's final round 70 was the only under par round by any Florida player and included five birdies. Following Veneziano was Joe Alfieri who carded rounds of 78, 72 and 77 for the Championship. The Lutz native's 2nd round of 1-over par 72 was the team's 2nd lowest of the tournament. Don Bell of Port Orange rounded out the team with rounds of 74, 78 and 79. Each player carded a round that counted for the team's cumulative total, with Veneziano's score counting all three days.

The USGA Men's State Team Championship is a biannual competition open to all states, the district of Columbia and Puerto Rico. Each state may enter a team of 3 players, who play 54 holes of stroke play with the two lowest rounds each day counting towards the team's score. The team with the lowest 54-hole aggregate score is the winner.
