2011 Players of the Year

 

The 2011 Florida State Golf Association Amateur Player-of-the-Year, Stephen Anderson, qualified for the Amateur, Florida Open, Match Play, Four-Ball and the Mid-Amateur. He finished one shot back at the Mid-Senior Championship, tied for third with Rick Woulfe in the Senior/Mid-Am Four-Ball, placed second in the Mid-Senior Four-Ball South with partner R J Nakashian, and finished fourth in the Mid-Am Four-Ball North with Jon Veneziano. Stephen defended his crown by winning the 2011 Mid-Amateur Championship at Old Marsh Golf Club and represented the South Team in the Florida Cup Matches.

 

 The 2011 Florida State Golf Association Senior Player-of-the-Year, Rick Woulfe, has continually been ranked as one of the top seniors in the country. Previously, he has been awarded the Amateur Player of the Year for 2002, 2004 & 2006 and the Senior Player of the Year from 2005 to 2008 and 2010. Rick has qualified for the Amateur, Mid-Amateur, and the Senior Championship. He also qualified for the USGA Senior Amateur Championship as medalist from his site, advancing to match play by finishing third in the stroke play portion shooting, 70-71-141. Rick tied for fifth at the Senior Amateur Championship, finished second at the Mid-Amateur Four-Ball South, tied for third at the Senior/Mid-Am Four-Ball, and won the Senior Four-Ball Championship with longtime friend Bob Ethridge. He also made the round of 32 at the Senior Amateur Match Play Championship and represented the South team in the Florida Cup Matches.

 

The 2011 Florida State Golf Association Junior Player-of-the-Year, Sawyer Shaw, started the season with a win at the AJGA Under Armour Vicky Hurst Championship in Port St Lucie. The fifteen-year-old shot a 69 in the US Open Local qualifying to advance to US Open Sectional qualifying where he missed playing in the US Open by just three strokes. Sawyer tied for sixth at the Amateur Championship and Boys Junior, and shot 68 to earn medalist honors in the Junior Match Play where he advanced to the semifinals. He was also the Points Champion for the FJT Boys 16-18.
